10 New Trick Treats for Your Ride from AutoAnything

Sidewalk Fired EggStepped outside lately? Ma Nature’s set the sun to broil. To avoid having our faces melt off, we’ve been squatting in the office afterhours to soak up the free A/C. But, you can only have so many chair races and cheese-puff eating competitions before growing so bored that you resort to working just to escape the tedium. Thus, this hefty schmear of new accessories from plucky brands like PlasmaGlow, Smittybilt, Hi-Lift, INNO and ATS Designs.

PlasmaGlow Lightning Eyes LED Headlight Strips—Legend has it that these automotive lights came into existence when a particularly comely strip of flexible, sticky-backed wiring caught the eye of mighty Zeus, who took the form of dazzling LED lights and had knowledge of the wiring, which in turn begot these PlasmaGlow lights.

Smittybilt Fire Extinguisher Holder KitsSmittybilt jeep trail tip #27: fire extinguishers (essential Jeep roll cage accessories) should be easily accessible in the event that your co-pilot tries to sneak his Prodigy cassette into the radio, requiring a quick shot of retardant in his face, Cheney-style.

Smittybilt Sport Handle KitsSmittybilt trail tip #46: when you pull up next to a Jetta packed with stunning undergrads, grab onto your Sport Handles and flex for maximum gun-flashage. More than a few happy marriages began because of a veiny forearm.

5 for Friday: New Tire Chains, Jeep Accessories and a Car Vacuum Available Now

Haruki Murakami

Were this a Haruki Murakami novel, I’d be an alienated 15-year-old Tokyoite with a game leg, and you’d be an out-of-work 30-something legal assistant with a missing cat and a missing wife. Too bad it’s just a blog post announcing the release of some new automotive accessories. Don’t get me wrong—these are slick accessories from top brands like Pewag, Smittybilt and Metro. Still, you won’t find any men at the bottom of wells, or young women mysteriously disappearing from Greek islands, or Johnny Walker building a destructive flute from the souls of cats, or scraggly old men dressed like sheep, or even older men who make leeches rain from the sky…none of the usual Murakami fare is here. But, we’ve still got some worthwhile tidbits for you to snack on.

Pewag Square Link Tire Chains—Ideal for foul weather and street rumbles, these sturdy snow chains wrap around your tires (or fists) and deliver a Newark-mean blend of traction and durability.

Pewag Glacier Square Link Tire Chains

Pewag Twist Link Tire ChainsOriginally, Pewag Chain called these the Popeye The Hitchhiker Link Tire Chains until they finally caved in to Chubby Checker’s demands for the rights to brand them The Twist: 3 new jean jackets and some eye cream.

Smittybilt GEAR Tailgate Covers—Here’s a little known fact: Jeep guys love purses. This custom-fitted gear organizer from Smittybilt comes with 2 purses, and its integrated MOLLE/PALS system lets you add more purses later, sorta like adding little sterling silver teacup charms to your bracelet, which Jeep guys also love.

Smittybilt GEAR Overhead Consoles—It may look like a stretcher from the hit TV series M*A*S*H, and Toledo’s own Jamie Farr might be cold-calling Smittybilt for a job as the accessory’s official spokesman, but it’s really just a handy way to dangle gear from your Jeep Wrangler’s roll cage.

Metro Vac N Blo Pro—And the Oscar for Best New Product in a Supporting Role goes to…Metro Vac N’ Blo Pro Car Vacuum! <Boisterous applause as the Vac N’ Blow sucks its way up to the podium> Oh thank you! I’d like to thank the Academy, Harvey and Bob Weinstein, my parents and everyone else who made me the car vacuum that I am today—you know who you are.

Jeep Accessories & Mobile Electronics, Plus New Garage, Travel, Tailgating, Tire & Wheel Accessories – An AutoAnything Weekly Update

Under Construction

It’s true. Big changes don’t just come after getting your fortune read by an unplugged Zoltar Speaks machine. Case in point: AutoAnything’s Accessory Aisle section underwent some hefty construction last night, resulting in a new, improved way to shop, here’s what happened:

New Departments

  • Mobile Electronics: The high-tech home to everything from power adapters to backup sensors and cameras.
  • Tire & Wheel Accessories: Everything you’d ever need for your wheels and tires (save for aftermarket wheels or new tires…for now).
  • Winter Driving Accessories: Here’s where you’ll find snow plows, snow shades, snow chains, snow men, Snow Patrol, and the latest Macintosh operating system, Snow Leopard.

Improved Departments

  • Garage Accessories: Updated with new categories and a new piece of carpet positioned under your Dodge’s leaky oil pan.
  • Tailgating Accessories: Remember the Automotive Gear department? This is now that, only trimmed down to showcase the stuff you’d use to party in a parking lot.
  • Travel Accessories: Dead is the Driving Accessories department and its hodgepodge of automotive bric-a-brac. From its ashes rises Travel Accessories (now with approximately 43% less bric-a-brac).

Oh, and we also launched some new products for good measure:

  • Clean Tools Ultimate Car Cleaning Kit – Since that orbital power-waxer and rolling cooler/stool combo don’t quite define you as a clean-car guy, there’s this, the Ultimate Car Cleaning Kit from Clean Tools.
  • Clean Tools Ultimate Detailing Kit – If Obsessive Auto Detailing were a spectator sport, this would be akin to pro swimming’s Arena X-Glide.
  • Clean Tools Ultimate Car Wash Kit – If you wash your car like a mysophobe washes his hands, this is the kit for you.
  • Clean Tools Absorber Synthetic Chamois – You know, there always seems to be a time and place for synthetic leather. And this little guy puts more shame on  ShamWow than Vince Shlomi.
  • AlphaTherm Windshield Washer Heater – Writing your name in the snow was never this much fun.
  • Rampage Jeep Seat Covers – Rampage: it’s not just a classic arcade game or a side effect of the HGH you’ve been injecting between your toes. It’s also a company that makes stuff for your Jeep, like this new set of seat covers we launched.  Also comes with a matching steering wheel cover because, as Rampage’s demographic studies indicate, people with messy bottoms often have cruddy hands, too.
  • Smittybilt Nerf Steps – Dress your vehicle to the nines with the style and strength of these tough new steps.
  • Smittybilt Sure-Step Nerf Steps – Unlike those other slippery nerf steps, these ones give you a firm stepping point.

A slew of new Jeep items came in from Rugged Ridge:

  • Jeep Air Intake System – Power-up your Jeep’s lungs with this oxygen-sucking system.
  • Jeep Throttle Body Spacers – If your Jeep needs some space, it doesn’t mean you need to start packing your bags. Just pick up one of these.
  • HID Off-Road Lights – Because driving in the dark never works out very well. Light up your trails with the power of HID lights.
  • Jeep Exhaust Headers – Built for both extreme and Xtreme conditions, these headers take on your toughest challenges.
  • Jeep Exhaust System – Adds style and tone to the back of your Jeep with its dual-tip design and cat-back goodness.

That’s it for this weekly installment, check back later for some slacker-friday fun.

Smittybilt & Bushwacker Jeep Accessories, Inno Racks, Street Scene Body Kits & More – An AutoAnything Weekly Update

Holy smokes!  If the smorgasbord of Griots Garage detailing supplies wasn’t enough for you, we’ve got a boat load of new products for you this week.  First up, we’ve added even more jeep accessories to our site, with new products from Smittybilt and Bushwacker.  We’d also like to welcome Rugged Ridge aboard!

Lifted Jeep

No, we can’t make your jeep look like the one in the picture… yet.  But we can offer you the jeep body armor you need to fight off rocks, trees, branches and medium-sized animals.  In fact, our jeep body kits will set your wrangler apart from the rest, giving it that tough exterior you’ve always wanted.

INNO Surfboard Rack

INNO Racks is a cool company.  Not only do they make roof rack products that support your outdoor life, but they have some of the coolest product designs.  I particularly like their surfboard rack, but their kayak racks and bike racks are equally neat.  In a few weeks, we’ll also be offering their new base racks, so check back later if you’re in the market.

Street Scene Body Kits

Street Scene is to body kits as kittehs are to lolz… I hated the SAT’s too, no more associative questions, I promise. But really, Street Scene has  got the hot fire when it comes to body kits.

We’ve also added some products that will help you in your everyday life; automotive tools, car vacuums and a gas powered blender.  Don’t say we never gave you nothin’…
