I’m not ashamed to admit that when the first Ford Focus models were unveiled back in 1999, I was a hater. It seemed like the Ford blew its load on the headlight design but didn’t have any creative juices left to finish the job. So they ended up with a bug-eyed, anemic, practical-joke of a car.
But that was then. The new 2011 Ford Focus unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show has come a long way. Yes, the headlights are still stylish, but the rest of the ride has enough razzle-dazzle to wow even the most jaded Ford malcontents, such as myself. Plus, the latest generations of Fords have proven to be packed with more techno-gadgets than a Sharper Image in Tokyo’s Akihabara district.
