One New Product And Some Love For Old Favorites

headgearI wonder: would North Korea have lost 7 : 0 to Portugal had their top striker, Kim Jong Il, not fallen ill? According to state sources, the Pyongyang Pele averages 37 goals a game, more than enough to have shifted the team’s fortunes in their favor. Oh well. As a consolation, we’ve got the digital equivalent of orange slices and Capri Sun waiting on the sidelines—a new product.

Rampage Frameless Jeep Soft TopRampage did for Jeep soft tops what children with London smiles wish their orthodontists could do for them: eliminate the headgear. These frameless tops mount to your roll cage, so there’s no clunky frame to adjust and no embarrassment at sleepovers.

Rampage Frameless Jeep Soft Top

Now, we spend a lot of time on this blog talking about the all the shiny new automotive toys we’ve added up. But, we started hearing some squawking coming from the stock room. Apparently, some of our best-selling accessories and brands are jealous about all the attention the upstart accessories have been getting. So, to stave off a mutiny, we’re giving a special shout-out to all the unsung heroes:

Seat Covers

Seat CoversWe all sit on mustard packets from time to time, but your auto’s upholstery should not have to suffer because of the office hazing we’ve been enduring for the past five years. Wait, am I the only one? Hey, Jerry! WTF?

  • Sheepskin Seat CoversIf you’ve walked through downtown Manhattan, shopped at American Apparel or read the latest issue of Vice, you know ’80s fashion is back. Nothing complements your Yaz reissues and neon sunglasses like vintage sheepskin seat covers.
  • Rampage Seat CoversJeep heads know that Rampage crafts seat covers that are tough enough to keep up with their busy rock-crawling schedules and mud-bogging appointments.

Brakes

Brakes. They’re the invaluable parts that keep you from plowing into the Benz in front of you when you’re rubber necking that Brazilian barista brewing up café con leche at her sidewalk cart.

  • Brake PadsBrake calipers without quality brake pads are like two slices of buttered Roman Meal without the bologna. Complete the sandwich.
  • Brembo BrakesThe pros know that Brembo Brakes are the bee’s knees. They come from Italy, for Mama Celeste’s sake. What more has to be said?

Car Covers

Car CoversIn a garage or out on the street, stray cats will find your warm hood and will knead biscuits with their paws and claws on your finish. Protect your investment from felines by slipping on a car cover and throwing out your catnip air freshener.

  • Outdoor Car CoversThey’re the thin grey line between your ride’s pristine finish and a sludgy slurry of bird squeeze.
  • Covercraft Car CoversThe biggest cheese in the car cover fromagerie is none other than Covercraft, who’s been crafting artisanal covers for decades.

Exhaust Systems

Exhaust, Mufflers & TipsCar go BOOM.

  • Universal MufflersGetting 50 guys to agree on universal healthcare is impossible. On the subject of universal mufflers, though, the support is unanimous.
  • Borla ExhaustWhat sets Borla apart from other exhaust builders? Besides the generations of experience under their belts, they craft every exhaust from choice stainless steel, just like those fansy-pants Japanese kitchen knives you’re still paying off from last year.

Running Boards

Running BoardsWhile they might not be as exciting as Schwarzenegger’s classic Running Man, installing running boards won’t give you nightmares about Captain Freedom and Dynamo chasing you down.

Bike Racks

Bike RacksYou believe in the Critical Mass ethos, but you also live in the ‘burbs. What’s a sympathetic 30-something scenester to do?

  • Hitch Mount Bike RacksTired of aggravating your hernia every time you hoist your Huffy into your roof bike carrier? A hitch mount bike rack eliminates the strain.
  • Thule Bike RacksJust as Joy Division sowed the post-punk seeds and Neutral Milk Hotel fine-tuned indie-rock’s roots, Thule bike racks have laid the foundation for how a proper bike rack should be built.

Tonneau Covers

Tonneau CoversLike a toupee for your truck bed, a tonneau covers up the bald spot, boosting your MPGs and your opposite-sex appeal.

  • Truxedo Tonneau CoversPink tuxes and zoot suits  have all be done before. If you want your wedding video to go viral, try draping yourself with a Truxedo tonneau. They’re the Armani of tonneau makers.

Truck Tents

Truck TentsStaring up at the stars is fine, but being bitten on your eyelid by a centipede in the middle of the night kind of ruins the camping experience. Truck tents smooth out the rough edges of roughing it.

  • SUV & Minivan TentsWhether you’re taking the family out on a camping excursion or simply need to take a little break from your family, an SUV or minivan tent is there for you and won’t ask any questions.
  • SportzNot to be confused with Bratz, Sportz builds some of the finest truck tents around. They have nothing to do with sassy plastic dolls.

New Kayak Racks, LED Lights and Automotive Kitsch, Oh My

Howling at the Moon

Full moons affect us in primal ways. No, we don’t go gallivanting around the countryside tearing open the bellies of surfs and snacking on their entrails. We work. And we work some more. And we collapse exhausted. Then, we wake up, dust the Pringles crumbs off our chests, and report on the aftermath. Here’s one such reporting:

Thule Top Deck Kayak RackPut on your barfly thinking cap for a minute—the Thule Top Deck may not be a top-shelf kayak rack, but Popov comforts just as well as Grey Goose and leaves you with some spare Washingtons for a pickled egg dinner.

Pulstar Eco-MPG Series Spark Plugs—These Pulstar spark plugs would definitely be cooler if they had a Flux Capacitor inside, but their standard capacitor does have the power to boost your MPGs up to 10%. Not too shabby for a spark plug.

TonnoPro Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover—There are good toupees, and there are rugs. The same goes for folding tonneau covers. Let’s just say this new TonnoPro tonneau cover won’t flap in the wind if you’re tobogganing down Mt. Whitney.

2 Deluxe New Accessories, 0 Flimflam

Joad Cressbeckler

We’re usually too busy scouring the globe for choice auto accessories to keep up with the talking heads on TV jibber-jabbering on about beltway skullduggery. But Joad Cressbeckler is a breath of fresh Black Hills air. He stands up against flannel-mouthed snake oil peddlers, and he isn’t afraid to give those he disagrees with a little what for. These two new accessories are dedicated to Joad, the orneriest prospector that ever had his own cable news show.

Dash Designs Suede Rear Deck Covers—You love the luxurious look, feel and aroma of a dead beast’s skin, but you’re tired of PeTA dumping red paint all over your ride because of your elephant ear steering wheel cover. Your first step on the road to compassionate accessorizing starts with one of these faux suede rear deck covers from Dash Designs.

Yakima SkyBoxLike one of the bog people Seamus Heaney used to muse over Ireland’s cyclical history of violence, we’ve yanked the mummified corpse of this Yakima rooftop cargo carrier up from the depths, dusted the digital dirt off its shoulders, and added it back to the site.

HitchMate TireStepGive it as a gift, and this roof rack accessory from HitchMate overtly signifies that you’re concerned about the condition of your loved-one’s back. Covertly, though, it signifies that you’re worried about the worsening state of his or her cankles and think it’s about time he or she got some exercise.

ORV Jeep Shocks—The only thing I’m shocked about is that you’re still off-roading without these deluxe shocks. These bad boys are charged with 150psi of pressurized nitrogen gas. You’d have to eat about a half-pound of dried prunes to generate that kind of gas charge.

ORV_Jeep_Shocks

ORV Jeep Steering Stabilizers—Couldn’t your Jeep use a little more support? ORV Jeep is here with quality steering components to carry you through your times of trial and suffering—it’s the one set of footprints in the sand for your chassis.

ORV Jeep Lift Kits—Your Jeep could use a pick-me-up, too. But it needs something a little stronger than a slug of Monster to conquer the badlands. Beef it up with an expertly engineered suspension lift kit.

ORV Jeep Drop Pitman Arms—Working like a marriage counselor, the drop pitman arm bridges the divide between your suspension and steering system.

Putco Halogen Headlight BulbsWith an assortment of 5 brilliant colors, these headlight bulbs let you cast Skittle’s flavored light onto the streets. Plus, we also stock a wide range of blue headlight bulbs and white headlight bulbs for both halogen and Xenon headlights.

Heritage Dog Travel Bed—You know what they say: let sleeping dogs lie…on a dog travel bed. And, this pet travel accessory folds in half, zips up and sports built-in carrying straps, so it’s perfect for Rover road trips.

Heritage Kennel Mat—Like a Japanese tatami mat for your pooch’s kennel, this flooring from Heritage makes your dog’s kennel seem more like a little home and less like a little prison.

Heritage Cargo Protector—Whether you’re hauling home the bloody trophy of your unlicensed hunting trip or just toting around some sunflower seedlings, this cargo liner defends the inside of your ride’s rear from harm.

Heritage Collapsible Dog Bowl—If your GladWare just isn’t cutting it anymore, feed your traveling Cujo from this premium dog travel bowl.

Heritage Dog Car Hammock—Your old, worn-out bed sheets can only provide a little bit of protection against the constant onslaught of your K9’s slobber, paws and accidents. Dress your interior with a proper dog seat cover for the ultimate defense.

Heritage Kennel Jacket—Not to be confused with any DoggieCouture jacket Paris Hilton would put on her Chihuahua, this kennel jacket snuggles up to your dog’s portable home.

New Air Intake Systems, Cash Back Rebates and Great Promos – AutoAnything Weekly Update

January has come and gone, the Steelers just barely beat out the Card’s in the Superbowl and Punxsutawney Phil gets to take another 6 weeks of PTO. As exciting as all that has been, we’ve got some breaking news of our own that hasn’t hit the papers yet.

We’ve added two new products, a cold air intake and a beefy throttle body spacer, both from Street & Performance Electronics. We also setup some fantastic promos with our vendors. They’re so good, in fact, that even our little groundhog friend will be sorry he hibernated through the deals.  :)

New Products from Street & Performance Electronics

  • Helix Power Tower Plus Throttle Body Spacer – The Helix Power Tower Plus gives incoming air the perfect swirly, purported to offer up to an extra 22 HP if you gun it or an extra 4 MPG if you feather it. This bolt-on spacer is pretty easy to install, taking about 45 minutes for most vehicles.
  • AirMax Spiral Flow Air Intake – Here again, Street & Performance puts to work the idea that spinning air swirls some extra horsepower out of the engine. This time, it’s a rifled sleeve inside the intake tube that starts the spin and gets all that extra air in line to burn. Good for extra power, torque and maybe even an MPG or two, this spiral flow intake comes with a high flow washable air filter and a steel heat shield for maximum engine gains. The whole kit comes powder coated for a flawless finish.

Promotions and Rebates

If you thought new products were the only thing we’ve been working on, then you should be stoked to know that we’ve lined up some $25 rebates on a few AFE products and some special promos with Truxedo, BAK, Extang, Undercover, Borla and MBRP. Here’s the deal:

$25 Rebate on AFE Stage 2 Intakes, Blade Runner Manifold & Exhaust Systems

AFE - Get a $25 cash card (via AFE mail-in-rebate) on AFE’s Stage 2 intake, the Blade Runner intake manifold, the Mach Force XP & Large Bore HD exhaust systems. The purchase must be made between 2/1/09 and 4/30/09, click the banner for complete details.

  1. AFE Stage 2 Air Intake – More than just an air filter and plenum, the stage 2 kit replaces your entire air intake tract, improving flow dynamics by providing a more laminar air flow straight into the manifold.
  2. AFE Blade Runner – Perfectly complement your air intake with the Blade Runner intake manifold. Larger than stock and constructed from high quality materials, AFE’s Blade Runner intake manifold will flow more air into your engine, letting it breathe easier and make more power.
  3. AFE Exhaust – Available in two flavors:
  • The AFE Large Bore HD Exhaust is a great way to beef up your exhaust tone. The Large Bore HD uses oversized aluminized tubing to free up extra horsepower and give your engine a nice low end grunt. Available in both cat back and turboback styles.
  • AFE Mach Force XP Exhaust – For maximum power gains, look no further than the Mach Force XP from AFE. Up to 5″ stainless steel piping is used on this monster exhaust, thereby minimizing back pressure and allowing your turbo to spool faster and make more boost. Turboback or catback, it’s your choice, but no matter what you choose, you won’t be disappointed by the power gains.

We’ve also worked out a few truck tonneau cover and exhaust promos.  All of these promotions are valid through 2/28/09. Here’s the quick and dirty break down, click the links if you want to get all the details.

  1. Truxedo Tonneau – Free Tailgate seal with the purchase of any Truxedo Tonneau.
  2. Extang Tonneau – Free MaxSeal tailgate seal with the purchase of a Trifecta, BlackMax, Tuff Tonneau III , RT Tonneau or Revolution tonneau cover.
  3. Undercover Tonneau – Free MaxSeal Tailgate Seal with all Undercover tonneau cover orders.
  4. BAK RollBAK Tonneau Cover – Free Door Sill Protector with the purchase of a BAK RollBAK tonneau cover
  5. Lund Tonneau – Purchase any Lund Genesis tonneau cover and get a free MaxSeal Tailgate seal.
  6. MBRP Exhaust – Free MBRP Exhaust Tip with the purhase of an MBRP 4″ Diesel Exhaust System.
  7. Borla Exhaust – Free Borla Hat with the purchase of any Borla exhaust system or header kit.

Grilles, Consoles, Step Bars, Brake Rotors and More – An AutoAnything Weekly Update

We’ve been staying really busy here this week, planning new sections to our site, adding fresh content and value to pages that were under-appreciated and we’ve added a handful of new products to our catalog, read on to get the full scoop.

Royalty Brake Rotors – Here’s a king you can respect—Royalty Rotors. Cross-drilled and slotted for palatine performance, silver-zinc plated for regal rust resistance and priced right for penny-pinching paupers. Get over to our brakes department and give your brakes the Royal treatment, you won’t be sorry.

Rampage Step Bars – Because you can never have too many running boards, nerf bars or whatever you want to call them, we’ve added a line of step bars from Rampage. Combining strength and style, Streamline Step Bars offer the best of both worlds. Their 5” platform gives you 50% more stepping room over regular tube steps and they’re backed by a 5-year warranty. Find these guys in our running boards department in the oval nerf bars category.

Rampage Center Consoles – When you’re banking a hard right or bouncing around off-road, the last thing you need is sunglasses, nickels and a 32 oz. Mountain Dew flying in your face. But with Rampage Center Consoles, you don’t have to worry. They remedy clutter issues and prevent your gear from going airborne. You can find these guys in the newly named center consoles & organizers category.

Carriage Works Mesh Billet Grille – Carriage Works takes aim at the upper-end mesh grille market with Marque Mesh. Said our friend Just Bob @ CW, “It’s a Strut killer.” We haven’t seen too many Strut carcasses on local freeways, but give it time. Once they get popular, they’ll start flying off the shelves senselessly – like Darren Sproles apparel. You can find this and more in our mesh grill category.

Window Canvas Hautman Window Graphics – When you’re desperate to have a 2-foot bass hanging in your rear window, Hautman graphics deliver. From fish to ducks to howling wolves, these window graphics let you plaster nature all over your car, truck or SUV.

New Floor Mats, Cold Air Intake, a Jeep Soft Top and More – An AutoAnything Weekly Update

We sincerely hope you all enjoyed your New Years.  If you’ve got some resolutions for 2009, put them into action now, I’m sure that ’09 will fly by just as fast as ’08 did.

One of our resolutions for 2009 is to improve the amount of quality auto parts that we carry.  We decided not to slack on it, so this week we’ve got 1 new department, 2 new brands, 5 revamped categories and 5 more auto parts for you to quench your thirst for customized auto accessories.

  • Husky Chrome Fender Vents – Because no vehicle should be without fender vents, despite how it was made. Match your vehicle’s outside to how it feels inside with a pair of chrome side fender vents from Husky. No one can tell they’re fake – really.  Available in honeycomb, louver and punch styles, you can find all three of them in our new Fender Vent category.
  • Husky WeatherBeater Floor Liners – I could make a crude joke about the WeatherBeater’s double entendre name, but these custom-molded liners don’t deserve to be jerked around. They’re the spit of the Husky Liners except that they’re ribbed with grooves to manage fluids better. They’re only sold in sets (front and rear together) and are easily installed single-handedly.  Available in the standard black, grey and tan colors.
  • WeatherTech Bug Deflector – For some folks, deflecting the criticisms of envious peers is all in a day’s work. Same goes for the WeatherTech Stone & Bug Deflector—deflecting the onslaught of bugs and debris that blast your vehicle’s hood is just what it does. Aerodynamic, sleek, virtually indestructible and features a no-drill installation.
  • RBP Cold Air Intakes – Bask in the glory that is RBP. With all the benefits you’d expect from, say, an Airaid air intake, these cold air intakes also have RBP’s wicked logo embossed on the lid.  Includes a 5-layer filter for gas engines and an extra thick 7-layer filter for diesels.

We’re also throwing a major bone to all the Jeep heads out there.  We’ve got a new Jeep Top & Doors department.  Here you can find our new Rampage Jeep soft top.  We’ve also relocated our OR-FAB Jeep door sets, their sport Jeep roll cage, Jeep bumper and spare tire carriers to this new department for your convenience.

  • Rampage Jeep Soft Top –  Rampage Jeep Soft Tops are custom-made to factory specs, come in a variety of colors and fabrics, and just look good all-around.   Do you only need to replace the fabric and windows?  Not a problem; these are available as an OEM replacement soft top or as a complete kit, allowing you to maximize your dollar and minimize waste.  You can find them in the new Jeep Tops & Doors department, under Jeep Soft Tops.

Top 5 Performance Products – AutoAnything Weekly Product Review

We’ve been keeping you up to date about all the new products we’ve been adding, but we thought it would be a good idea to list out the top five performance products that will give you the most bang-for-your-buck.  Whether you’re purchasing for yourself or your just doing some holiday shopping, these five products will be sure to put a smile on someones face.

Air Intake Systems

There are many different types of air intakes available, anything from air filters to throttle body spacers to forced-induction kits.  The most common type of air intake is the cold air intake, which intakes air from outside the engine bay to feed into the air-fuel mixture.  The colder air is more dense, which results in more combustibility and power.  The Volant cold air intake is the perfect combination of form and function, adding up to 18 horsepower and 40 ft-lbs of torque while always looking good under the hood.

Exhaust Systems

Putting exhaust on your vehicle not only improves performance, but it gives you enough presence on the road so that everyone will know you’re not rocking a stock vehicle.  Magnaflow exhaust systems are some of the most popular exhaust kits in the world.  Highly engineered for improved flow dynamics, mandrel bent for superior fitment and manufactured from quality steel, every Magnaflow exhaust will plaster a grin on your face for years to come.

Performance Chips

Another great way to improve horsepower and torque is with a performance chip.  Every power programmer works by tuning your factory ECU to adjust the air/fuel ration into a more combustible mixture.  On turbo engines, these tuners can even increase boost levels, resulting in even greater performance gains.  A common side effect of power programmers is an improvement in fuel economy.  This is due to the engine making more power, which means you need to use less gas to accelerate and maintain speed.

The Superchips Cortex is a popular power programmer that offers three levels of tuning so you can choose the level of performance you want.  The Superchips Cortex programmer also lets you calibrate your speedometer to reflect  gear changes and bigger tire sizes.  Installs in minutes, but you’ll notice the benefits after just a few seconds.

Truck Air Filters

Trucks have big engines, which means they need a lot of air.  Using a standard paper filter can constrict your engine by not letting it breathe.  A performance air filter improves your engines air intake, giving you more horsepower and torque for when you need it most.  K & N sets the bar for high performance air filters because of their superior filtration, dyno-proven horsepower gains and their 1,000,000 mile warranty.

Floor Mats

You may be asking yourself, “What makes a floor mat a performance part?”  Well when you’re working on your vehicle installing new auto parts or changing your oil, you’ll need a floor mat that can stand up to what is on the bottom of your shoes.  High performance all-weather floor mats will save your carpets from dust, dirt, grease, grime, mud and snow.  Husky Liners is a very popular choice due to their rugged construction and lifetime warranty.  Husky floor liners are custom-molded from a unique blend of rubbers to make them ultra-tough.  The tall rim around the perimeter of the floor liner ensures that no liquid will find its way into you auto’s carpet.
