Richard Hammond narrates and races his Honda Firebird “motorbike” against a massive rocket-shaped firework and a golfer… a completely useless comparison, but still fun to watch.

There have been a few electric motorcycle concepts that were produced over the last few years and one of them was produced into a production unit, although sales haven’t met the expected level of demand. But the timing was tough for these companies as times have gotten tough for a lot of people. Never the less, electric motorcycles a offer specific advantages over their fossil-fueled equivalents, namely torque-on-demand, zero emissions and the complete lack of excruciatingly-hot exhaust pipes. It’s was only a matter of time until electric-bikes made their way into professional racing competitions. Some mates from down under decided that motorcycles just weren’t fast enough. Maybe the power-to-weight ratio of their Yamaha FJ 1200 just wasn’t good enough for them. Maybe they’d never ridden the Viper-Engine-Powered Dodge Tomahawk. No matter what the reason, they knew that had to do something crazy. So in true Speed-Freak fashion, they (somehow) managed to source a Rolls Royce turbo jet engine that cranks out a massive 3,800 horsepower and strapped it to the back of the bike. This bike now holds the world record for being the most powerful bike ever built… speed tests are yet to be performed, probably because the bike would end up leaving the ground behind and take flight. If a bike can fly, is it still considered a bike? Probably want to talk to the world records keepers about that before attempting anything…
